Process Modeling for Biofuels Plant

Sustainable Solutions

C&I supported the development of a state-of-the-art facility that combines a Feedstock Processing Facility with a Biorefinery. The facility converts landfill waste to renewable syncrude, which serves as a precursor to Sustainable Aviation Fuel.

The Biorefinery consists of two major processes:

Gasification: Converts municipal solid waste into syngas.

Fisher-Tropsch Synthesis Reactions: Converts syngas into higher molecular weight hydrocarbons or syncrude.

Utilizing our expertise in Process simulation tools, we modeled the section of the process from the gasifier to the Fisher-Tropsch process. This required integrating several technologies to understand the impact of each step on the overall process. Our team is proud to be at the forefront of producing a net-zero carbon fuel alternative while simultaneously reducing landfill waste.
