Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Clyde Smith II is a proud Louisiana native who is currently a Project Manager at our Houston office. He attended Louisiana Tech University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2010. While in school, he threw shot put and discus as a member of the Track and Field Team, became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and served as the president of the National Pan Hellenic Council for the university. After graduation, he started his professional career at ExxonMobil where he served as a Mechanical Contact Engineer responsible for the day to day mechanical/maintenance issues for the Sulfur, Clean Gasoline, and Pipestills units. After his time at ExxonMobil, he found employment with Marathon Petroleum where he was an Area Engineer, responsible for base maintenance and small projects for the Coker, Sulfur, HF Alky, FCCU, and Crude units. He was also the Engineering TAR Coordinator and completed a short stint as a Maintenance Foreman for the FCCU.
In 2018, he moved to Houston and joined C&I, bringing a wealth of first hand industry experience with him. In his spare time, he enjoys mentoring and is a fitness enthusiast who is currently training to do a one-armed pull-up. If you ask Clyde or anyone who knows him, you will hear it said that he has never met a stranger. He has a personality that will fill up a room and a unique laugh that goes with it!
His natural gravitation toward helping others coupled with his client experience creates strong relationships because he not only knows what C&I provides, he also knows first-hand what you as a client are expecting. Additionally, his diverse nature and genuine interest in people allows him to connect with individuals of all backgrounds.
