Create a center for collection and dispersal of shale oil
C&I was tasked with designing receiving facilities and tankage at the refinery to receive and distribute product streams distilled out of the condensate stream produced from tight oil. The scope called for a 35,000 BPD case which, apart from reusing the existing aliphatic unit towers, would replace essentially all other equipment.
This large project included barge unloading facilities at the light oil dock for tight oil condensate; four new tanks located in a new tank farm area; charge pumps and LSR pumps, piping, and controls; steam, steam condensate, HPBFW (for wash water) and cooling water supply and return piping between ISBL Battery Limits and
the utility source/destination; and piping to route tight oil condensate from the barge through the tanks and charge pumps to the ISBL battery limits and propane, butane, LSR, HSR, and Naphtha splitter bottoms from the battery limits to other storage units.
We also designed a propane H2S Scrubber facility for propane routed to the propane caverns. This facility would re-pipe and convert the existing out-of-service Cumene propane sulfur treaters to use a non-regenerable absorbent for H2S and mercaptan removal.
