Increasing sour water processing capacity
Prior to C&I’s involvement, this refinery was producing sour water in excess of 150 gpm, but it could only process 125 gpm. In addition to plant design and procurement, C&I provided front-end and detailed process, mechanical, civil/structural, and electrical engineering for a second sour water stripper tower and feed-bottoms exchanger that would share the client’s existing
overhead system, condenser, reflux pumps, and reflux drum. The spare pump was specially piped to allow it to serve as a common spare for the new and existing strippers. C&I’s work doubled the refinery’s sour water processing capacity to 250 gpm with both strippers operating.
