Staff Mechanical Engineer
We are currently seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer in our office to help us achieve our company mission. The Mechanical Engineering Team is responsible for preparing technical reports, studies, design documents, performing calculations using engineering software, and preparing specifications for complex mechanical equipment and support systems. C&I is an employee owned, full service, engineering design firm providing engineering/design/project management and procurement services to various clients in oil & gas, food & beverage, and distilled spirits.
Responsibilities include:
- Working independently and functioning as a Mechanical project lead, which includes planning, coordinating, scheduling, creating effort estimates, delegating work, and checking technical and construction documents on equipment and piping projects.
- The Staff Mechanical Engineer will provide input to utility and process P&IDs and line designation tables.
- Performing detailed analysis and comprehensive calculations related to piping, rotating equipment, and fixed equipment.
- Ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency in the work produced in concert with project team objectives and customer expectations.
- Preparing complete design packages, including construction scopes of work, for complex projects.
- Researching national and local codes, interpreting gray areas, and recommending appropriate designs to meet requirements.
- Creating execution plans for unique projects, anticipating the sequence of tasks, long lead and specialty items for the engineering procurement cycle, and dependencies of information from others.
- Preparing specifications and requisitions for engineered equipment/items.
- The Staff Mechanical Engineer will complete technical reviews of bids for engineered equipment/items.
- Reviewing vendor submittals to ensure they meet intended use, involving other disciplines as necessary.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or higher from a four-year ABET accredited engineering program and a minimum of eight (8) years of related work experience for heavy industrial applications (Refinery, Chemical Plant, or Power Plant preferred)
- PE license strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally to offices, vendor shops, and project sites. Travel is expected to be up to 10%
- Valid Driver’s License
Qualifications that set you apart:
- Prior Leadership experience
- Working knowledge of ASME, NFPA, API, HI, NEMA, Welding and other industry codes/standards
- Experience with fixed equipment, rotating equipment, and mechanical systems (piping, hydraulics, pneumatics, metallurgy, and welding)
- Technical experience with Caesar II, Compress, NozzlePro, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and knowledge of developing calculation worksheets in Excel
