This project consists of two parts: 1) Flare Low Points and 2) Atmospheric Relief Basic Practice. The general objective is to make modifications to the present relief and flare header system to conform to the recommendations of API RP 521 and the refinery’s Basic Practice for such systems. API RP 521 and the Basic Practice Pressure Protection for Process Equipment and Pipelines indicate that the relief valves and flare header system should be free draining all the way from any relief valves to the liquids knockout drum just upstream of the flare. It is the goal of this project to comply with the overall intent of these guidelines.
